Crash in Port St. John Closes I-95 for 12 Hours
Florida Today-May 2, 2013-According to the article two semi trucks crashed just after midnight on Tuesday. The accident closed down both northbound lanes of Interstate 95 at Port St. Johns Parkway in Port St. John, Brevard County, Florida for nearly 12 hours. According to Florida Highway Patrol the 48-year-old from West Palm Beach resident was driving the double-trailer rig, did not realize the flatbed semi hauling heavy equipment in front of him was going slower than his truck was until it was too late. The driver tried to swerve to avoid hitting the flatbed, but was unable to do so and hit the flatbeds trailer. The article goes onto say that the cab of the first trailer flipped into the roadway. The flatbed separated from the cab and machinery fell off onto the road, spilling diesel fuel on the roadway. Both drivers were taken to Wuesthoff Medical Center in Rockledge, Brevard County, Florida with minor injuries. Lanes that were damaged in the accident were repaired and reopened at about 11:00 a.m.
