A Woman Drives Into Indian River and Dies

Florida Today-January 14, 2013-According to the article an 87-year-old woman died Sunday afternoon after she drove her vehicle into the Indian River off State Road 405. The fatal crash occurred on NASA Parkway at about 2:45 p.m. The woman was driving a 2002 Ford east and drifted across the median into the river. The article goes onto say the that a Good Samaritan rescued the elderly woman from the vehicle. The car was completely submerged under water. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Kennedy Space Center fire-fighter and rescue crews, including boat personnel responded to the deadly crash.

Police Officer Hospitalized After Crash

Florida Today-January 14, 2013-According to the article an Indialantic police officers was injured Sunday afternoon when his cruiser collided with a northbound minivan at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and State A1A in Indialanatic, Brevard County, Florida. The officer was responding to a report of a possible drowning victim near the Indialantic Boardwalk around 4:50 p.m. The officer was driving east on Fifth Avenue when the two vehicles collided. The officers cruiser then struck another vehicle, a Mercedes Benz near the Indialantic lighted monument sign depicting a sea turtle. There is no information at this time on the officers medical condition. The Florida Highway Patrol have an ongoing investigation. The officers cruiser was totaled in the crash.

Woman Pistol-Wiped by Suspects

Florida Today-January 14, 2013-According to the article a 63-year-old woman was pistol-whipped during a home invasion Friday night the Village Square Condominiums in Titusville, Brevard County, Florida. In a "sneak attack," three men forced their way into the victims apartment and held her at gunpoint. The men clubbed with a firearm. According to police the woman suffered from minor lacerations on her head. The woman apparently opened her door to take out the trash when she was targeted because she was vulnerable.
