Officer Removed from ICU After Crash
Florida Today-NOVEMBER 19, 2012-According to the article a Titusville police officer who was hit by a truck Friday night was removed from the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Brevard County, Florida intensive care unit Sunday. Although, the officer has a significant road to recovery ahead of him. The officer involved in the incident has been in the department for 12 years. He was struck while rendering aid at a crash scene at U.S. 1 and Harrison Street in Titusville, Brevard County, Florida. The officer was off duty at the time of the crash. He remains hospitalized and in serious, but stable condition. The article goes onto say that the officer was hit by a southbound 2007 Chevrolet driven by a 67-year-old driver from Port St. John. The driver of the truck is not expected to be charged because of the darkened highway.
The officer had responded to the scene after a 26-year-old driver from Mims, Brevard County, Florida crashed into a light pole. The young driver was arrested at the scene and booked in Brevard County Jail Complex on a charge of reckless driving with property damage and an open container. According to several witnesses the 26-year-old driver was spotted driving at high speeds and in circles in the parking of Miracle City Mall just prior to the accident.
