Officer Injured in Scuffle at School

Florida Today-September 6, 2012-According to the article a Palm Bay, Brevard County, Florida police officer was punched and kicked during a confrontation with an unruly 18-year-old that was signing up for adult education classes at Bayside High. Charges are pending against the 18-year-old and the officer will recover from his injuries. The incident occurred at about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday in the principals office at the campus. The article goes onto say that the officer had to use his stun gun to subdue the man, who was not a student at the school. The officer was taken to Palm Bay Community Hospital in Palm Bay, Brevard County, Florida.

A Fire Destroys a Vacant Home Overnight

Florida Today-September 6, 2012-According to the article investigators continue to investigate the cause of a fire that destroyed a vacant home overnight Wednesday in the 1000 block of Gainy Drive in Melbourne, Brevard County, Florida. The home was reported just after midnight at a home off of University Boulevard in south Melbourne. Flames spread quickly through the home as fire crews worked to contain the fire. An investigation is still ongoing. No injuries were reported during the fire.
