Crash Closes Down Interstate 95 for Hours
Florida Today-February 23, 2012-Stacey Barchenger-According to the article, a couple traveling to Miami in a commercial truck crashed into another rig on Interstate 95 near the Malabar, Brevard County, Florida rest area early Wednesday. The driver of the truck tried to hit the brakes to avoid the other truck, but was unsuccessful. Florida Highway Parol officials said that the other semi truck was traveling south in the exit lane to the rest area when it moved back into the right lane in for the couples truck. The driver tried to move into another lane but the two rigs crashed into each other. The crash caused a fire to break out and clean up crews were there for a spill of about 75 gallons of diesel fuel. The roads were opened back about five hours later. Fortunately, no one was injured during the crash. The other driver of the semi truck was cited for improper lane change.
