Channel 2 Wesh News-March 17, 2011-According to the article a Merritt Island man with a long history of driving offenses will go to trial after running over and killing a 10-year-old boy. The driver has had multiple speeding infractions, reckless driving, careless driving, driving on suspended license and drunken driving. Florida Highway Patrol and law enforcement of the community have been outraged that this man can legally drive with such a long history of traffic offenses. According to the article the man was driving 12 mph over the speed limit when he hit and killed a 10-year-old boy on Merritt Island, Brevard County, Florida."I think the evidence will show that this gentleman was exceeding the speed limit," attorney Steve Charpentier said. "As a result of that carelessness, recklessness, we have a dead 10-year-old boy. " The article also states that the boy ran out in front of the car and he his death is legally his fault.
