Florida Today-February 15, 2011-Andrew Knapp- According to this article a motorcyclist crash head-on with a car recently in Titusville. According to the article the Suzuki motorcycle was northbound on Mount Vernon Avenue in Titusville when it veered into the southbound lane of the same avenue crashed into an oncoming automobile. According to the investigating officer the motorcycle landed quite a distance beyond the automobile and witnesses describe the rider landing "violently on head." The motorcycle rider was wearing a helmet. Motorcycle rider was described as being in seriously injured and was transported, via helicopter, to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne. Apparently the motorcycle operator has a long Brevard County history of traffic infractions such as careless driving and speeding. The driver of the automobile was not injured. Its interesting to note that according to the article "of 15 fatal wrecks involving motorcycles last year in Brevard, 10 of the riders were not wearing a helmet. State wide in 2009, however, 53% of the motorcyclist who die in crashes were wearing helmets."
