Florida Today-August 30, 2009-Keyonna Summers-According to this article budget cuts, reduction in court room staff and tough economic times have lead to a growing back log of court cases in Brevard County, Florida, leading to a delay in a local judges full time appointment to an appellate court seat. According to the chef judge Brevard County has historically had a high case load. However, the same judge that Brevards clearance rate-the pace at which pending cases are resolved and cleared out of the system verses the rate at which new cases come-has constantly dropped over the years because of state budget cuts that lead to staff reductions.
