Recall of Zero Motorcycle
Zero Motorcycles is recalling certain model year 2009 0S motorcycles built from 9-2-2009 through 12-20-2009: model year 2009 0DS motorcycles built from 7-27-2009 through 12-28-2009: model year 2010 0S motorcycles built from 2-1-2010 through 3-31-2011 and model year 2010 0DS motorcycles built from 1-20-2010 through 3-31-2010. Apparently the front brake caliber bracket may experience permanent deformation when subjected to high braking loads. This condition could indulge misalignment of the front brake pads with respect to the front brake roader.
Zero Motorcycles is concerned that misalignment of the brake pads in relation to the roader may cause reduced front braking performance, which could lead to a possible crash and potential injury or death.
Zero Motorcycle dealers will replace the front brake caliber bracket with a redesigned component and replace the front brake pads in case the existing pads experienced abnormal ware. The dealer will also inspect the front brake fluid and, if signs of over heating are noted, the fluid will be replaced and the system will be flushed. This service will be performed free of charge. The safety recall is expected to begin during May of 2011. Owners may contact Zero Motorcycles at 888-786-9376, extension 45. NHTSA Campaign ID#: 11V282000
