Hubert Childress was born in 1944 in Butte, Montana. He and his family relocated to Florida in 1948, and he graduated from high school in Jacksonville in 1961. Then, from 1961 to 1965, Mr. Childress served honorably in United States Navy.
Hubert Childress, Jr. attended the University of Florida, where he graduated with honors in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He then attained his law degree in 1974, also from the University of Florida. Immediately after graduating, he passed the bar exams and became a member of the Florida Bar.
Mr. Childress practiced law in Orlando from 1975 to 1980, focusing primarily on insurance defense and plaintiffs’ personal injury cases. He relocated to Brevard County in 1980, when he joined a large Brevard law firm as a senior partner in charge of the firm’s personal injury division. Mr. Childress resigned from this firm in 1989 in order to found Childress & Charpentier, P.A., with partner Stephen G. Charpentier.
