Florida Today-March 12, 2010-Associated Press-In it’s history, Florida has executed only three women. The first one was a slave put to death in 1848 for killing a planter. The second was Judy Buenoano in 1998 and the third was Aileen Wuornos in 2002. Currently there is only one woman on Florida’s death row her name is Tiffany Ann Cole.

Florida Today-December 7, 2009-According to this article Titusville Police recently arrested four under age individuals after they tried to break into Space Port Cycles on North Washington Avenue in Titusville, Brevard County, Florida. Apparently, Titusville Police received a report that these minors were cutting a fence outside the business which was closed at the time. The juveniles, ranging in age from 10 to 14 were taken into custody by Titusville Police.

Florida Today-December 7, 2009-According to this article police were seeking information regarding a possible car jacking that occurred recently on Wickham Road near the Melbourne Greyhound Park in Brevard County, Florida. Apparently, sometime in the early morning, a witness called the Melbourne Police and said a man possibly holding a gun, ran onto Wickham Road from nearby apartment complex. He then jumped into the backseat of a small four door automobile that was stopped due to a traffic light in the southbound lanes of Wickham Road.

Florida Today-November 6, 2009-According to local police a man was taken into custody after witnesses reported he was walking between homes. Apparently this man is linked to a serious of residential burglaries in the Brevard County area. The arrested individual is charged with loitering and prowling, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a control substance.

Florida Today-October 6, 2009-Two men were being questioned in an apparent home invasion that left at least one person with minor injuries, according to Palm Bay Police. The break in occurred in the early evening at a resident at Lighthouse Point apartment complex just off of US-1 in Palm Bay, Brevard County, Florida. According to the article police stated several men, armed with knives and guns, made their way into the apartment and attempted to rob the occupants. Charges are pending and an investigation is ongoing.

Florida Today-August 30, 2009-Keyonna Summers-According to this article budget cuts, reduction in court room staff and tough economic times have lead to a growing back log of court cases in Brevard County, Florida, leading to a delay in a local judge’s full time appointment to an appellate court seat. According to the chef judge Brevard County has historically had a high case load. However, the same judge that Brevard’s clearance rate-the pace at which pending cases are resolved and cleared out of the system verses the rate at which new cases come-has constantly dropped over the years because of state budget cuts that lead to staff reductions. The Brevard court system handles approximately 150,000 cases in 2008 at courthouses in Viera, Titusville and Melbourne.

Florida Today-August 25, 2009-A man convicted in a 2007 shooting death of a Mims, Brevard County, Florida man during a robbery is slated to be sentenced to life in prison. In June, 2009, a Brevard County jury found Antonio Tyson guilty of first degree murder in connection with the April 8th, 2007, killing of 33-year-old Tyrone Dilly “Williams” near Titusville, Brevard Count, Florida. The sentencing is set before Circuit Court Judge Robert Burger.

Florida Today-July 21, 2009-Keyonna Summers-According to this article, a Titusville teenager accused of shooting an air conditioner repair man for target practice pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree murder. Under a plea agreement the Brevard County 15-year-old will be sentenced as a “youthful offender” to four years in prison and two years probation in connection with the January 12th, 2008 shooting of 32-year-old man at a bar in Titusville, Brevard County, Florida.

Florida Today-July 20, 2009-Keyonna Summers-Jury selection in the Justice Heyne murder trial begins at 9:00 a.m. on July 20, 2009, before Circuit Judge O.H. Eaton at the Moore Justice Center in Viera, Brevard County, Florida.
According to this article Justice Heyne has spent more than three years in a cell at the Brevard County Detention Center, awaiting trial on charges that he murdered his roommates and their daughter. 28-year-old man is to go to trial on three counts of first-degree premeditated murder in connection to the March 30, 2006, shooting deaths of three people in their Moon Road home in Titusville, Brevard County, Florida.
