Moore- According to this article three Palm Bay high school students were among four people injured recently in a three-vehicle crash in which a school bus was hit head on. None of the Brevard County students appeared to have serious injuries, but all three were taken to an area hospital. The driver of the pick-up truck that hit the school bus suffered injuries and was listed in critical condition at the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Brevard County, Florida.

Florida Today-August 30, 2009-Keyonna Summers-According to this article budget cuts, reduction in court room staff and tough economic times have lead to a growing back log of court cases in Brevard County, Florida, leading to a delay in a local judge’s full time appointment to an appellate court seat. According to the chef judge Brevard County has historically had a high case load. However, the same judge that Brevard’s clearance rate-the pace at which pending cases are resolved and cleared out of the system verses the rate at which new cases come-has constantly dropped over the years because of state budget cuts that lead to staff reductions. The Brevard court system handles approximately 150,000 cases in 2008 at courthouses in Viera, Titusville and Melbourne.

Model 2009 K1300 GT/2009 K1300 S. BMW is recalling certain model year 2009 K1300 S and K1300 GT motorcycles manufactured between October 1, 2008 and May 1, 2009. According this recall, in certain riding conditions involving vibration, the brake fluid in the front reservoir and foam. This could lead to a reduce braking capability of the front brake system, possibly resulting in a crash.

Florida Today-August 25, 2009-A man convicted in a 2007 shooting death of a Mims, Brevard County, Florida man during a robbery is slated to be sentenced to life in prison. In June, 2009, a Brevard County jury found Antonio Tyson guilty of first degree murder in connection with the April 8th, 2007, killing of 33-year-old Tyrone Dilly “Williams” near Titusville, Brevard Count, Florida. The sentencing is set before Circuit Court Judge Robert Burger.

Florida Today-August 25, 2009-Investigators identified a 47-year-old woman killed in a motor vehicle crash as Suzanne Williams of Cummings, Georgia. Ms. Cummings was fatality injured when her 2001 Honda Accord ran off the road and overturned into a water-filled canal on Eau Gallie Blvd., in Melbourne, Brevard County, Florida. Apparently, Ms. Williams’ Honda Accord was westbound on Eau Gallie Blvd., in Melbourne when the car veered south onto the south shoulder and flipped. Investigation into this unfortunate death is continuing.

Florida Today-August 24, 2009-According to this article a 47-year-old woman recently died after her Honda Accord veered off West Eau Gallie Boulevard in Melbourne, Brevard County, Florida and overturned in a canal. According to the Florida Highway Patrol the crash occurred near midnight.

Florida Today-August 21, 2009-Associated Press-According to this article, a Florida hospital gave the wrong drug to a pregnant woman in an effort to “speed up” labor. Unfortunately, according to the article, the woman gave birth two months early and severely injured the baby. A lawsuit regarding this matter was filed in Palm Beach County, Circuit Court against the hospital’s owner, several nurses, doctors and pharmacists. According to the plaintiff’s the medical bills for their brain-damaged baby have now exceeded 3.5 million dollars.

Florida Today-August 21, 2009-A 25-year-old motorist was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne after losing control of his vehicle and crashing into a utility pole. According to the article the crash occurred at 430 North Harbor City Blvd., in Melbourne, Brevard County, Florida. Apparently, the vehicle was southbound on Harbor City Blvd. and hit a pole on the northbound side of the road.
