between their vehicles near Weber and Malabar Roads in Brevard County, Florida. According to the Florida Highway Patrol the intersection and Malabar Road and Weber Road in Brevard County was temporarily shut down because of the crash. One of the injured was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Florida while the other person was taken to Palm Bay Hospital in Palm Bay, Florida. The injuries were not life threatening.

Florida Today-FEBRUARY 5, 2009-Keyonna Summers-Cocoa Beach woman, Kimberly Rodeghire is awaiting trial for vehicular homicide from a crash in which her five year old son died. While she was out of jail on bond Ms. Rodeghire was arrested again, this time for DUI.

Florida Today-February 6, 2009-Keyonna Summers-According to this article plea negotiations between the State Attorney’s office and Billy Lane’s lawyers could lead to a resolution in the motorcycle designer’s DUI manslaughter case. Mr. Lane was charged two years ago with one count of DUI manslaughter in connection with a Labor Day 2006 motorcycle verses motor vehicle traffic accident resulting in the death of Gerald Morelock. The unfortunate crash occurred near Melbourne Beach when Mr. Lane’s pick up truck struck Mr. Morelock’s motorcycle head-on.

Florida Today-February 5, 2009-Susan Jenks-Disagreement between Holmes Regional Medical Center’s medical staff and Board of Directors escalated the over the brief suspension of four of the Melbourne hospital’s five trauma surgeons. According to the article medical staff suspended the physicians so that they could conduct a coincidental peer review of the doctor’s credentials. As of the date of the article Health First, which operates Holmes Regional Medical Center Hospital and employs the trauma surgeons as part of the Health First Physicians Group won a temporary injunction in state court that allowed the doctors to continue working.

Florida Today-February 5, 2009-J.D. Gallop-Fire investigators spent much of Wednesday shifting through the blackened rooms of a smoldering two story house, the scene of what officials said was a suspicious fire in Indian Harbour Beach, Brevard County, Florida. According to the article the damages are assessed at least several hundred thousand dollars.

Orlando Sentimental-January 21, 2009-Rachel Jackson-A Sanford assisted living facility was closed after the State of Florida revoked its license due to concerns about patient/resident treatment. According to the article staff members at the Lake Jessup retirement home yelled at residents. Apparently investigators were told that staff members had been seen slapping residents on the shoulder or hands. Apparently this same facility was cited by the state last year when a patient suffered bruises from what was thought to be a seizure or a stroke, but 911 was not called until the following day. Apparently, before the 14-bed facility can reopen its doors, it’s owners must pay $20,500 in fines and apply for a license.
