Motorcycles are popular vehicles, but when crashes occur, the riders can sustain injuries that are far more serious for riders than for those who are in a car. It is other drivers who most often cause a motorcyclist to wreck

One of the common causes of motorcycle accidents is speeding. Many motorcyclists, especially those who are not experienced riders, are not aware of the dangers of speeding. Motorcycles are affected by defects in the road more than other vehicles. Hitting a pothole at a high rate of speed can cause a motorcycle to flop or at least cause the cycle to spin out of control

The other driver is the reason a motorcycle crashes more than 70 percent of the time, according to traffic statistics. These causes may include the following scenarios.

The other driver is following too closely. Just a simple tap of the cycle can send it spiraling out of control.

Failing to stop for a traffic light or a stop sign. This is a common cause in any type of accident. However when a motorcycle collides with a car or truck, the motorcyclist is more likely to suffer serious injuries.

The other driver is speeding and slams into the motorcycle.

Bad weather can lead to poor visibility and poor road conditions.

The motorcycle can be defective. To prove this claim, the bike would have to be inspected. The motorcyclist would have to show that he or she kept the bike in good shape and that no changes were made to the bike that could have affected its performance.

Riders are required to wear helmets. Although not wearing a helmet is not a cause of an accident, the lack of a helmet can cause more serious injuries. If a motorcyclist is involved in a wreck and is not wearing a helmet, he or she can be denied at least a portion of the damages in the lawsuit, even if the wreck is not their fault.
